Subaru WRX Sti - World Rally Blue 2015

Project Detail in Gladesville, Sydney is a premium detailing shop that prides itself on doing the right thing for the customer at all times. Sometimes this puts us into a difficult situation where we have to communication and see what the customer wants to do. One of the most difficult conversations is telling a new owner their car requires paint correction. It doesn't matter if it's light or extensive, polishing a new car is not what most people have in mind.

2015 Subaru WRX STi in World Rally Blue

This 2015 Subaru WRX STi is finished in one of the most iconic colours in the last decade, World Rally Blue. Some colours just have a natural gloss and if polished a to a high level looks unbelievable. Unfortunately, only after two months after purchasing, the owner had the car washed by his local car wash cafe in Hurstville twice. Only twice but twice was more than enough to leave heavy swirls and defects all over the vehicle ruining the clarity and gloss of the paintwork.

The Subaru had medium level defects consistent all over the car, in order to remove these and protect the car, the paintwork needed an extensive Stage 2 Paint Correction. The paintwork was then finish in TAC System's Quartz Sparkle Glass Coating. For a general coating, this is a fantastic product. More information can be found by clicking here.

Subaru Tecnica International

Since 2014, Subaru has upgraded the standard of their paints to match European standards. Originally Subaru paint has been notoriously soft and disliked among detailers. However, we found great success in using the Rupes UHS system. This pad and polish combo is a specialised in polishing to a high degree of gloss but still being able to remove a lot of defects. The only disadvantage with UHS is the length of time involved in order to get the best results.

We believe around 95% of defects were able to be removed through the Stage 2 Paint Correction. What worked in the owners favour was the age of the vehicle. Once the defects were removed, we then applied Quartz Sparkle glass coating in order to not only protect the paintwork but assist in preventing and/or reducing future swirl marks.

This is a car Project Detail was particularly happy with, the gloss was unbelievable by the time we finished. The paintwork was able to achieve a real 'wet look' and still have the characteristics in protecting the car and being easier to clean.
